EA has launched the TeamBuilder website for NCAA 10. TeamBuilder is a web-based, revamped version of EA’s former create-a-team mode. You begin by creating a team name and location, as well as the stadium name and school prestige. From there you can select your school’s colors and logo. With the web-based TeamBuilder, you can upload an image to use as your school’s logo, or use an existing logo, which includes all FBS and FCS school’s logos as well as an expanded amount of generic ones.

The next step is to select an existing stadium to use as the blueprint for your own. After selecting a stadium, you can edit all the small details of the field, including turf type, endzone lettering and colors, midfield logos, and secondary logos.

Once the stadium is in place, it’s time to create the uniforms for your school. This section features similar options from years’ past, but is much more detailed and is presented in a more user-friendly way. There are dozens and dozens of combinations for stripes and logos on the helmets, as well as logo placement on the jersey, etc. After editing your uniforms you can select any existing mascot to use to represent your school, or choose to go without one.

Everything up to this point will feel pretty familiar to anyone who has used the create-a-school features of the older games, but this is where it gets interesting. You can now edit all of the information about your team that affects recruiting and other areas of the game. This includes academic prestige, campus lifestyle, facilities, fan base, coach prestige, pro potential, program stability and more. From that point you can edit every feature of your team’s entire roster! You start by selecting a base roster to work with, which includes many default rosters, and now every FBS team’s real roster! So if you want to create a replica of the Ohio State Buckeyes, load up their roster and you are set. However, if you are the type that wants to create an entire roster of their own players, you can pick any base roster and edit every small detail you wish; height, weight, appearance, name, position, year, number, and all the player’s skills (more on the new position-specific skills to come later).

Once your team is created, you can save it and it will be ready to use in your offline dynasty or online play, and can even be made available to share with others via the web.

I think this feature is going to be extremely popular. The fact that EA left create-a-school out of the ’09 version upset many fans, but they have brought it back and it’s better than ever. The ability to easily edit your entire school, ratings and all, is perfect for junkies like me who want to control every aspect of their game. The web-based version makes creating a team easier than ever, and there is no limit on the number of teams you can create. Want to make a copy of your favorite real-world team? Now you can. Always wanted to re-create the team from your favorite football movie? Now it’s easier than ever before.

Visit the site here to start creating and sharing your teams today and let us know what you think!

  1. Chris Standard says:

First of all, i think that the fact that you have to have the internet to create a team is not cool, then when i finally tried the site is down, not very cool

  2. I’m skeptical that the Huskers is joining the Big Ten. Next year promises to be esciting. Yipee!
