NFL 2010 NFC and AFC Championship Predictions

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Minnesota Vikings vs. New Orleans Saints

Minnesota Defense vs. New Orleans Offense:The Vikings have a strong rush defense, but New Orleans doesn’t really try to pound the ball. Drew Brees likes to get the ball out quick, and I think Minnesota’s secondary is going to have trouble with all of New Orleans’ weapons. The Vikings have to get pressure on Brees to get the Saints out of sink…. I just don’t see it happening that often. Advantage New Orleans

Minnesota Offense vs. New Orleans Defense: The Vikings are so balanced offensively where does a defense even begin? New Orleans’ defense has played pretty well so far in the playoffs, but Minnesota is by far the most balanced and potent offense in the NFL. Advantage Minnesota

Intangibles: This game is at the Superdome, but don’t expect the Saints to be the beneficiary of home field officiating. Brett Favre in the Super Bowl is $$$ for everyone. Brett Favre vs. Peyton Manning is even better. Expect the Saints to get the short end of the officiating stick this weekend. Advantage Minnesota

Prediction: Minnesota 34 New Orleans 31

-

New York Jets vs. Indianapolis Colts

The Jets one dimensional offense will be their downfall. This game is in Indy which bodes well for Indianapolis, but ultimately Peyton Manning has been here before and his experience combined with the Colt’s potent passing attack will be the difference maker.

Prediction: Indianapolis 24 New York 17

Sick of Brett Favre Yet?

Tuesday, August 18th, 2009

nfl_smh_favreviking_576

Brett Favre continues to pad his post-playing NFL analyst marketability with gobs and gobs of free PR as he drags out his career yet again.

The most recent victim? The Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings have visions of the Kurt Warner success story dancing in their heads. The problem? Kurt Warner is better than Brett Favre.

The Minnesota Vikings officially made the NFC North a two team race between Chicago and Green Bay.

2009 College Football Top 5 “Sleeper” Teams

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

5. Syracuse
We may be going out on a big limb with this one, but we are throwing the Orange into the mix. Coach Doug Marrone, a former player, has made an effort to get ‘Cuse more in touch with its past, when they were a nationally respected program. Syracuse does lose some key pieces from last year, but they also return some guys who can make big impacts. RB Delone Carter might be better than the departed Curtis Brinkley, and WR Mike Williams is the best receiver the Orange has seen in years. It looks like the nod at QB will go to Ryan Nassib, who has never started a college game but has been phenomenal this off-season. (more…)

2009 College Football Top 5 Non-BCS Teams

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Another entry in GameRosters.com’s series of college football “top 5’s”. These teams may not be on the radar of most college football fans, but they should be. All of them hail from non-BCS conferences (3 from the Mountain West) and receive little television exposure. That doesn’t mean these teams aren’t worth checking out. You want offense? Check out Houston and Boise State. Defense? TCU will smother offenses all year. Rivalries? Attend the Holy War between Utah and BYU and then we’ll talk. This Top 5 list has a little bit of everything for the college football fan, so let’s look at each team a little more in-depth.

Roster Progress – Saturday, July 18th – 6:45 PM

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

We’re receiving about 200 calls, questions, e-mails and chats per hour. I just wanted to let you know we are about 15 teams away. We saved the hard part for last. The smaller teams aren’t as easy, and they contain a lot of discrepancies. They are taking anywhere from 1 to 1.5 hours per team.

Unlike others, we refuse to cut corners. We want to get it as close to right the first time so we are taking our time to ensure roster accuracy.

It is currently looking like we will start distributing the rosters sometime tomorrow (Sunday). We have brought another person aboard to create roster templates on Excel sheets to help us navigate these last few teams.
