Before we get into the nuts and bolts today I want to tell you a little bit about VG Sports in case you are new to the site. We launched MaddenTips.com back in late 2001. We were the first site to ever sell digital strategy guides for Madden and NCAA football. Most people were back on dial up back then and since the game had just come out on the original Xbox most people were playing on PS2. NCAA Phenom One Day…Bum the Next

Every year we see a new phenom in the NCAA and Madden world. Some kid comes out of nowhere with sick stick control and a few money plays that catch people by surprise. They have their run, win their tournaments and garner whatever fame and fortune there is to be had in the community.

But then the next year they are getting pounded by the same so-called “bums” that they dominated the year before. Trust me, I watched this happen over and over again the last decade.

Here’s my theory, and anybody that’s been in the gaming community for a while will back me up. Most of today’s players come to football as a result of the video games and not the other way around.

“Back in the day” a great many football gamers played the actual sport at some level. They were fans of the game. They were students of the game. They knew football.

Most players today don’t have that background. So they spend hours and hours looking for gimmicks and survive by their stick skills. Then when the game changes the following year they are back to square one.

They don’t have any concept of running a scheme, they just have a bunch of “money” plays. But when these get shut down, they have nothing to fall back on.

Competitive Fire vs. Limited Time

Maybe this isn’t you. May be you love and understand the game of football, but aren’t getting the results you want on the virtual gridiron due to time constraints.
